Redefining Goals

So I know I've talked about setting goals for myself and one of those goals was to get down to a certain size. Now that I've done that, I've decided that this summer, I want to set two more goals for myself. While I'm not going to stop eating healthy, I have decided to shift my focus. I don't want to focus so much on losing weight. That will be just a bonus. I've hit a point where I am comfortable in my skin (despite the tone of my post yesterday). Sure, there are areas that I'd like to "fix" but I've come to, for the most part, accept them. It is what it is. I think though, that continuing to have certain goals is crucial to success. Not just losing, but maintaining as well. I certainly don't want to slip into old habits and routines and undo what I've done up to this point.

Here's what I've set for myself this summer:

  1. Wear a pair of shorts in public.
  2. Wear a tankini.

You might be wondering what's the big deal about these two goals. If you know me in real life, you know how much of a big deal both of these are. For years, I refused to wear a pair of shorts. I always felt my legs were too big and they'd ride up between my thighs when I walked and I just didn't have the confidence to wear them. I stuck with capris, which aren't bad, but if you don't get the right length, they can end up making you look a lot bigger than you are.

I've decided to go one step further with the bathing suit. I refused to wear a bathing suit for years.I have missed out on many opportunities to go swimming with the girls because of being so self conscious about my body in a bathing suit. I will not let that happen this year. I want to be able to get in the water with them and enjoy myself without wondering if anyone is talking about my rolls or back fat or stomach, etc etc. I have always loved tankinis (if you don't know what they are, it's a two piece like a bikini but the top part is like a tank top). I talk a lot about loving my body and embracing my curves and it's time to put that into action this summer. I encourage all of you to continue to set goals for yourself, no matter how big or small.

Also just wanted to give a shout out to those that have read. I was going through old posts and notice some comments and I'm so sorry that I didn't acknowledge them because I had no idea they were even there! I wasn't expecting anyone to read, much less comment on posts, so I didn't bother to look. This blog was only meant to be a personal record for me. So thanks for reading and thanks for commenting! (I'm looking at you, Chris).

Just read this now...After reading most of your older stuff, its so easy to see how far you've come. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. In this post you display the exact attitude I want to eventually have for myself. You should love your body, look at what you have done! You deserve, and should wear whatever you want. Don't hide, you need to be seen. Oh, and I'll keep reading as long as you keep posting. ~C
